Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook COO and founder of LeanIn.Org says, “No industry or country can reach its full potential until women reach their full potential.” The beauty industry has historically helped women rise up and discover their voice. From applying a product that gives one more confidence to providing a way to earn a living, the beauty industry has helped girls and women define themselves. Radio AMB is delighted to share two stories about ladies finding their voices and discovering their brilliance.
Listen in as Patty sits down with a mother of an 11 year-old girl who is neurologically challenged. Hear how this little girl was being left behind by the public school systems until her mother and a village of educational advocates, stepped in. With their evidence-based curriculum they are changing the way kids with disabilities are learning. This is the start of our awareness campaign on their work to make education systems relevant to the way children learn today.
During the second half of the show, you will meet Mercedes Felix, who turned bullying at school into a Facebook group called Beauty Obsessed with over 140,000 members. Mercedes shares her journey to build the group, with 7 administrators from all over the world who have never met, but help her field 400 posts and 1000 new member requests per day. She shares her recent experience on her all expense paid trip to Chicago to meet Mark Zuckerberg, where she learned new Facebook administrator’s tools and provided feedback on how Facebook can help Mercedes continue to grow her tribe. We think that’s pretty important in all things in beauty.
